It has allowed the director of research in AI at Meta, Turing Award laureate (the equivalent of the Nobel Prize in computer science) and the author of Quand la machine apprend: La révolution des neurones artificiels et de l'apprentissage profond ( Odile Jacob), and the best-seller Sapiens author to compare their views on the promises, dangers and future of AI. Yuval Noah Harari signed the open letter launched by the think tank The Future of Life, alongside nearly 30,000 researchers, calling for a six-month pause in the development of tools more powerful than GPT-4, the language model that accelerated the adoption of ChatGPT in record time, while Yann LeCun saw in this appeal only an outcry from doomsayers.
